How can the Department of Statistics of the ILO help you with ISCO?
The role of the Department of Statistics is to ensure that ISCO fulfils its objectives. the ILO Department of Statistics has the mandate and responsibility to:
- Maintain ISCO and submit proposals for its updating or revision for discussion and adoption by International Conferences of Labour Statisticians (ICLS) or by duly authorized meetings of experts and for endorsement by the Governing Body of the ILO;
- Provide technical support to countries for development, implementation, interpretation, maintenance, updating and revision of this classification;
- Prepare and disseminate methods and materials, i.e., statements of best practice, explanatory notes, handbooks, indexes, correspondence tables, coding strategies and methods.
- Sometimes training courses are also provided by the International Training Center of the ILO.
